Very central location: A 20 minute walk to the Convention Center and four blocks from Balboa Park which has 17 museums, the San Diego zoo, and the old Globe Theatre. A bus goes right past the hotel and can take visitors either downtown or North about 1 mile where hey beautiful sanctuary run by the self realization fellowship since the 1903 Chicago worlds fair can be found. A big plus for staying here is our central location.
The Hawthorne Inn also known in earlier years as the Plainsman looks exactly the same as when it was built in the 1890s. It was built before the airport was even a thought. So since airplanes fly over head it has been soundproofed. Even the interior hallways have not been altered. There are a wide hallways, the rooms are very soundproof, there is a public Study area and a fully furnished kitchen for those people who do not have a kitchenette in their unit. Unit 113 is the largest unit. A one bedroom, with a large dining/living room area, a office area and a full kitchen plus a new bathroom. We have installed new floors, new toilet, new overhead lighting, and a new bathroom vanity.
