Second floor private entrance; private bath, newly remodeled with kitchenette, in National Historic Landmark close to Balboa Park and Little Italy. A good place to live for a few months if you are here on assignment or looking for permanent lodging. Quiet building, very professional. Weekly linen and towel changes for a fee. On site manager. A study on the first floor provides a great work space or if you prefer there is plenty of room downstairs or in the outside patios. There is a full kitchen that is shared downstairs. Little used and not in the unit. There is a full refrigerator and microwave and coffee maker in the unit. We have completely refurbished the room. Fresh sheets and towels weekly. Hawthorn Historic Inn is a National and state historic Landmark.....West facing the Beautiful San Diego Harbor and downtown. Refreshing afternoon ocean breezes....a lovely patio with barbecue is available....The Hawthorne is built on a hilll and so the first floor is about 20 above the street below....
Your unit has a microwave, and refrigerator too. Downstairs is also a very large kitchen which you can use any time day or night. It is rarely used.
With regard to location we are about a five minute drive from the airport, A 15 minute walk to the Convention Center and three blocks from Balboa Park which has 17 museums, the San Diego zoo, and the old Globe Theatre.Some basic facts about the building: it is a Dutch Style Victorian built around the turn of the 19th-century....has about 2000 ft. of decks on multiple levels. The unit is freshly painted and remodeled..... offshore breezes and the warm afternoon sun all day long keep the temperature mild and comfortable. A bus goes right past the hotel and can take visitors either downtown or North about 1 mile where a beautiful sanctuary run by the self realization fellowship since the 1903 Chicago worlds fair can be found. A big plus for staying here is that most visitors will not need to rent a car.
The Hawthorne Inn also known in earlier years as the Plainsman looks exactly the same as when it was built in the 1890s. Even the interior hallways have not been altered. There are a wide hallways, the rooms are very soundproof, there is a public Study area is across the hall...it is sunny, quiet and little used by other guests...it's like having a spare room to read in etc.
