There is a microwave, coffee maker and full refrigerator in the unit. Clean, quiet room. Freshly painted. Extensive second floor decks for guests relaxation and viewing. It is on the National Historic Register and is a state historic Landmark.... has about 2000 ft. of decks on multiple levels. In addition to a being remodeled... offshore breezes and the warm afternoon sun all day long keep the temperature mild and comfortable.
The history of the hotel is long. And this is one of the few remaining working man Victorians still in existence. T
We are a five minute drive from the airport, and three blocks from Balboa Park which has 17 museums, countless gardens and several theatres including the nationally acclaimed Old Globe theatre, and the San Diego zoo. A bus goes right past the hotel and can take visitors either downtown or North about 1 mile where a beautiful sanctuary run by the self realization fellowship since the 1903 Chicago worlds fair can be found. A big plus for staying here is that most visitors will not need to rent a car.
On the first floor hallways we have collected antique maps and photographs depicting what the community looked like 100 years ago. Finally, we have heard reports and read online reports that the Hawthorne Historic Inn is haunted. So, if you see a ghost, try to get a photo but please tell us.
