Some basic facts about the building: it is a Dutch Style Victorian circa 1900....has about 2000 ft. of decks on multiple levels. In addiin the unit, freshly painted, offshore breezes and the warm afternoon sun all day long keep the temperature mild and comfortable. We have the unit completely refurbished.

Five minute drive from the airport, A 15 minute walk to the Convention Center and three blocks from Balboa Park which has 17 museums, the San Diego zoo, and the old Globe Theatre. A bus goes right past the hotel and can take visitors either downtown or North about 1 mile where a beautiful sanctuary run by the self realization fellowship since the 1903 Chicago worlds fair can be found. A big plus for staying here is that most visitors will not need to rent a car.
The Hawthorne Inn also known in earlier years as the Plainsman looks exactly the same as when it was built in the 1890s. Even the interior hallways have not been altered. Wyatt Earp may have stayed here for all we know! There are a wide hallways, the rooms are very soundproof, there is a public Study area is just one door down the hallway...it is sunny, quiet and little used by other guests...it's like having a spare room to read in etc.
